With the help of ecommerce, wholesalers across the food and drink industry have been able to successfully maximise their sales amid the ongoing impact of Covid-19 and long-awaited Brexit.

Our latest analysis of ecommerce shows revenue from online sales was 138% higher in June 2021 compared to January 2021. Similarly, the volume of sales orders was 111% higher in June 2021 compared to January 2021.

Overall, June 2021 was a record-breaking month for ecommerce sales as it saw the highest ever revenue for a single month since our analysis began in 2015.

Comparing total revenue for the first six months of the calendar year with the last, trends reveal that total sales revenue is often higher between July – December than that at the start of the year. Therefore, we predict that there will be another record-breaking month by the end of 2021.

It’s also important to note that our ecommerce analysis represents organic growth for businesses with existing ecommerce capabilities. The overall growth of online revenue and order volumes will therefore be even higher if we add businesses that have since implemented new ecommerce solutions within this period.
